ಹೌದು, ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯವು(Ministry Of Sports) ಈ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಜೀವಮಾನ ಸಾಧನೆಗಾಗಿ ನೀಡುವ ಧ್ಯಾನ್‌ಚಂದರ್‌ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಗಿತಗೊಳಿಸಲು(Dhyan Chand Award Cancelled) ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಗೌರವಗಳನ್ನು ತರ್ಕಬದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ಯಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಬದಲು ಜೀವಮಾನದ ಅರ್ಜುನ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದೆ.
ಅಂದಹಾಗೆ 2002ರಿಂದ ಹಾಕಿ ದಂತಕಥೆ ಮೇಜರ್ ಧ್ಯಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ ಸ್ಮರಣಾರ್ಥ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಪಟುಗಳ ಜೀವಮಾನದ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಮೇಜರ್ ಧ್ಯಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡುವುದನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದೆ. ಒಂದು ಕ್ರೀಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧಿಸಿದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇತರೆ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳ ಸಾಧಕರಿಗೆ ನೀಡುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ.
ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್, ಪ್ಯಾರಾಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್, ಏಷ್ಯನ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್, ಕಾಮನ್ ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಪಟುಗಳ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಅರ್ಜುನ ಜೀವಮಾನದ ಸಾಧನೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.
